Promoting Modern Wet Markets to Young People With Hin Keng's

As a part of Hong Kong culture, wet markets symbolize the livelihood of Hong Kong citizens. However, due to the popularization of firms and corporations, people in recent days tend to shop more in large-scale and commercialized chain stores like supermarkets and shopping centers instead of local small shops. As a result, wet markets are declining. Nevertheless, wet markets are irreplaceable as they retain the local culture, traditions, and practices which deserve more of the public's attention. To save wet markets from declining, we aimed to promote modern wet markets, which are recently renovated markets, to young people and correct their misconceptions because modern wet markets improved the pain points of traditional wet markets while still preserving the traditional practice and culture at the same time; while young people are a group who seldom visit wet markets and know less about wet markets compared to older people. In our project, we documented the interesting facts of market.

Hike Safe, Hike Friendly

The project was conducted at Leung Tin Au Valley (Por Lo Shan), which was a hiking hotspot with multiple types of terrain. The number of hikers has obviously increased since the pandemic, but the accidental rate has also greatly increased. Although hiking is popular, it does not help enhance interaction between people, and safety was not ensured. This project aims at educating hikers with basic hiking knowledge like uphill and downhill skills, and to remind hikers of dangers. Hiking culture like sharing will be promoted. Hikers were educated at different levels, including learning by seeing, practicing through interactions, and experience sharing. Signages and Games will help provide a tour-like experience for hikers. The Instagram page acted as an online exchange platform. Value after will be provided to the hikers through the stamp collecting postcards. Besides entertainment, the knowledge learned from the experience can be applied to the next hike on different hiking trails.

Build Up Sheung Shui Neighborhoods Relationships

To outline the value, contribution and difficulties of the recycle pioneers.

Sheung Shui’s street filled of cardboard and trash by parallel trader. Who is responsible for the community cleanliness? In general, the neighborhoods have negative impressions to recycle pioneers. Also, shop owners lack the awareness as a producer to do recycle themselves. Therefore, my goal is to raise the awareness of understanding the impact and difficulties of the recycle pioneers to neighborhoods. The entire program would start by understanding and building relationships with both parties as well as cooperating together to handle recycle process and rubbish at last. I created a connection between recycle pioneers, neighborhoods and shop owners by using cards. This process ultimately accomplished four benefits. Shop owner started their recycle process and the neighbors can get recycle pioneers’ information on WhatsApp. A reward system is established by the shop owner to support the recycle pioneers. Finally, it can build up a connection though setting the message board.
