Description

Basketball is one of the most popular sports in Hong Kong and Mainland China. Under pandemic situation, research findings show that there is a strong need on virtual training for teenagers, yet systematic and scientific, especially with the lack of professional skill level coaches in lower-tier cities. Therefore, we want to develop a basketball training platform with AI and VR technologies that can improve teenagers’ basketball skills at various technical levels. We use wearable sensors and high-speed cameras to record the players’ training process in a VR immersive environment, at the same time providing players an entertainment experience. Moreover, these recorded data can be analyzed by AI to provide customized training plans. This platform can benefit the wider basketball industry, related training schools and help to identify and nurture sports talents.
