Description

Building a caring community may start from small action. An emphatic observation on the way to buy eggs by an elderly originates this project. We then redesigned egg cartons and made them a communicative tool to talk, care, and serve more people in need in Shek Wai Kok Estate.

We develop a professional and ‘Kai Fong’ (residents) collaborative network to engage people through egg cartons. In this project, we discovered that the line between carer and being helped is ambiguous. Caring for others is our primary need. Hence, building a caring community is a mutual empowering relation amongst ‘Kai Fong’, social workers, and researchers.

Hopefully, we may see empathy getting rooted and bring warmth to the ‘Kai Fong’ by more small actions in the future.
