Description

The coexistence of permanent micro spaces within Hong Kong’s urban fabric creates vernacular structures located in in-between/ informal spaces. Clinging on to the existing host buildings, structures like alleyway shops, under-stair shops and subdivided shops are surviving under the shelter provided by the surrounding buildings and context. Through the analysis of these “parasitic architectures”, limits of their growth within the given environmental boundaries are explored.
