Description

In modern times, our fascination towards Technology, Media, Beauty, Material goods and Work has reached an obsessive level. We dedicate an extensive amount of time, attention and love towards these notions on a regular basis, to a point where it is akin to the act of worship, making these ideologies our newfound religion. Asclepions were establishments dating back to Ancient Egypt, where believers travelled to and seek spiritual and physical healing from the god(s) in their sleep. Borrowing this concept, this project explores the possibility where a hotel is the destination as a worshipping space for our 5 new religions. The project is inspired by Giovanni Battista Piranesi's Imaginary Prisons series. His drawing methodologies are extracted and used to reinterpret religious architecture interiors with hospitality programmes. Reimagining how a modern hotel would be like as a place for accommodation and worship simultaneously to portrait modern values and provoke reflection.
