Let’s Dance in Poly: PolyU as a dance friendly community

PolyU is well known as an informal provider of public dance spaces. Street dancers would like to practice in those public areas at the PolyU campus. However, the campus management has begun to restrict and even ban dancing in most of the public areas. I decided to launch a series of workshops via the social media to engage potential dancers not only to experience the different dance cultures in PolyU, but also to explore the informal dance spaces through a dance spots tour. Accompanied with a specially-designed site map, this project aims to promote PolyU as a dance-friendly community so as to preserve the special dance cultures and spaces in PolyU.

眾所周知，理大曾經為舞者提供非正式的公共舞蹈空間。街頭舞者經常會在校園的公共空間排舞。但近來理大校園管理開始限制，甚至禁止舞者在這些空間跳舞。我計劃透過社交媒體推廣一系列工作坊，邀請參與者去體驗理大的舞蹈文化之餘，也去探索這些校園公共舞蹈空間。計劃以特製的舞者地圖作起點，並在校園的非正式舞蹈空間舉行舞蹈示範，把理大推廣為一個舞蹈友好社區，倡議保存理大的舞蹈文化和空間。
