Description

As Covid-19 hit, most industries across the globe were upended. It forces millions to work from their homes. The New York Times published an article in 2021 mentioned that people are suffering from “languishing”. This term was
designed to describe the sense of distress with feelings of lack of motivation, stagnation, and emptiness. Languishing will likely disrupt the ability to focus and reduce productivity.

As the design of the workspace is highly aligned with employee satisfaction and productivity, XR workspace can be a potential tool to integrate into the new working environment, allowing employees to personalize their workspace which can improve productivity and foster more inclusiveness. Current virtual remote workspace and collaborative tools may not be user friendly for employees to interact intuitively.

This project will explore the design of phygital interactions that allow for intuitive, gestural modifications of shared spaces, enabling personalized shared environments.
