Description

Grief is the emotional response to the loss of a person or object. The 'Intricacies of Grief' project redesigns the experience of the 'grief journal'. Grief journals that are currently on the market serve as writing outlets for those going through the grieving process. Generally, a grief journal aims to be a judgement-free place for a user to explore feelings, to record memories and to navigate their grieving process. However, through researching reviews of grief journals on the market, it became clear that there are major criticisms of these products. 'Intricacies of Grief' utilises imaginative and playful storytelling devices, such as simple comics, to depict true stories of death, grief, and the grieving process. 'Intricacies of Grief' features prompts and activities that were developed and tested in workshops, which were curated to encourage conversation, the uncovering of vulnerable emotions, and provide users with healthy coping strategies.
