Description

Paper often gives an impression about whiteness. Despite its’ appearance, it is an invention changed our daily life. We consider paper as a medium that facilitates communication, stores information and shares opinion freely. However, with extensive development of digital technologies, our necessity and liability towards paper has reduced. As time elapses, values of paper are further neglected by people. In fact, paper is irreplaceable to designers as paper is a symbol of craftsmanship and dedication. As for design newcomers, it is difficult to learn and understand paper comprehensively. Therefore, the design project sets to reinterpret, revisit and revive paper with human’s sensation —— Sense of Touch. Throughout the project, it aims to explore values of paper to Communication Design in this digital age. As a proposed paper brand for PolyU Design, spectators will develop deeper understanding on paper knowledge, human's emotion and sustainability by various paper products in SDPaper.
